The Top 50 Poetry Blogs per Blog Rank

Curious about how your poetry blog is really doing? So was I. I stumbled across Blog Rank while doing a Google search on my own poetry blog. Of course, I knew my humble blog wouldn’t rank in the top 5000 poetry blogs much less the top 50! But as a fan of poetry and being a blogger, I am certainly interested in following the better blogs and learning what it is that makes them so successful. As you may as well, I am passing along to you Blog Rank’s Top Fifty Poetry Blogs.

Blog Rank uses over 20 different factors to rank the blogs in any category. Some of the factors include:RSS membership, incoming links, Compete Alexa, and Technorati ranking, and social sites popularity.

My Words Fail Me by Rick Stephen

Everyone has experienced those times when there are no words to express what you are feeling. Whether it’s trying to express your love for someone special or the depth of your sorrow and regret for having wronged them, sometimes words just fail us. We reach and grasp, stutter and falter trying to find that perfect sequence of words that will convey exactly what we mean. Other times, however, we are afraid to even try for fear our words will not only not relate our true meaning but in some way make things even worse.

My latest poem entitled my words fail me

blank white paper
waits to receive
thoughts that I have
dreams I’ve conceived

things that it seems
words can’t express
leaving true meanings
for you to guess

Certainly I still enjoy it but I begin to feel that I am stagnating, not developing as a writer. I feel the need to try something different to challenge myself and keep growing. This poem, A Desperate Darkness Under the Sun is an attempt to break out of the routine, to write in a different style on a completely different topic. I’m very much interested in your thoughts and suggestions on this one so please don’t hesitate to comment. I hope you enjoy it!

A Desperate Darkness Under the Sun

A desperate darkness settles on him
under the heat of the midday sun
with shaky hand he strokes the barrel
his only chance this glistening gun

His skin is blistered, red and dirty
the desert sun has had it’s way
many days has he been out here
three, no four, give or take a day
