Selfless by Rick Stephen

selfless
\ˈsel-fləs\ adjective

One Poet’s Paradox – Rick Stephen

One Poet’s Paradox

I put words to paper
in relentless attempts
to persuade you
I am no fraud

But how can I
sway you when
I fail to convince
even myself?

Endless words
penned countless times
to prove that which I
can’t accept myself.

an abiding patience
yet he had worlds
to conquer
of which hers
was but one

Micropoetry – Alone on the Porch

porchsunset

sitting
alone on the porch,
the sun burning a hole
in the horizon,
a breeze, gentle,
ever so slight,
caresses my face and,
closing my eyes,
becomes
your breath

This Life Apart- by Rick Stephen

manalone

This Life Apart

Silence reigns
as raindrops fall
and echoes down
the empty halls

Of a mind forlorn,
too numb to see
what life holds,
what could still be

His senses dulled
life became gray
yet he stumbles on
day after day

Without human touch,
his heart’s grown cold
and though still young
he feels so sold

So out of touch
with his own soul
he doesn’t know
he’s no longer whole

Even if he could,
he wouldn’t start
having grown to need
this life apart

A Desert Mind – Micropoetry by Richard Stephen

dry_desert-1221
Dry,
arid,
barren,
parched,
desolate,
desperate,
will words ever flow
from this shriveled mind?

Unkissed Lips – Micropoetry by Richard Stephen

harsh words
were too comfortable
on her unkissed lips
always lonely for love
she wonders why

Micropoetry – 14-March-2014

Mind Field

Painful memories
buried in my mind
some explosive,
and don’t want to find
So I fear each step
for I walk blind
and am on terrain
that’s been well mined
